The NYSBA Board of Directors will be in Washington, DC, next week to meet with members of the New York Congressional Delegation. Because we will be in Washington, we will not publish Newstream next week. We are still making appointments, but so far, we will meet with the following offices:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
Rep. Joe Morelle
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Rep. Mike Lawler
Rep. Yvette Clarke
Rep. Andrew Garbarino
Rep. Claudia Tenney
Rep. Laura Gillen
Rep. Nydia Velázquez
Rep. Paul Tonko
Rep. Nick LaLota
Rep. Gregory Meeks
Rep. Ritchie Torres
Rep. John Mannion
Rep. Tom Suozzi
Rep. Jerrold Nadler
Rep. Grace Meng
Rep. Dan Goldman
Rep. Josh Riley
Rep. George Latimer
We expect more meetings to be scheduled. We will be asking members of Congress:
Support AM Radio in Every Vehicle Act HR 979/ S.315 – The legislation requires automakers to keep AM receivers in their vehicles.
Support the Local Radio Freedom Act H. Con Res 12 – This resolution opposes placing a new “performance tax” on local, free off-air radio stations.
Broadcast Ownership – Support relaxing TV and radio ownership rules.
Taxes – Support keeping advertising 100% deductible in the year it is purchased.
We want to thank the members of the Board of Directors and Futures Committee for taking time out of their busy schedules to come to DC and represent our industry. As in the past, we believe these visits to DC will help members of Congress understand the importance of local television and radio.
