Election Day Thoughts

Today is election day. We are all anxiously waiting for the results. According to some reports, more than 2.9 million New Yorkers voted early.  Nationwide estimates are that nearly one third of all votes have already been cast.

The sound and fury of the campaigns will soon fade. For some broadcasters, it has been a good year for political advertisements, especially in districts with contentious congressional and state races. However, local broadcasters will serve a vital role during the post-election period.

Local broadcast stations are the most trusted source for local news. We are in a unique position to accurately report local election results. NYSBA salutes the efforts of local stations across the state for their diligence in reporting the results of this election. By providing straight forward coverage of the election and the voting process, we can bring our local communities back together after a contentious election. Local stations will be in the forefront of helping to heal our communities and our nation.
