About the Role
The Managing Editor is a new position at WAMC. Working under the News Director and closely with the Assistant News Director, the Managing Editor will oversee daily news production and longer-term News Department projects, helping to manage a dozen news staffers and additional freelancers, editing stories and web content, working with other departments to ensure public quality control, and serving as an on-air presence when required.
COMPENSATION: $70,000 a year
Requirements
• The Managing Editor should have a strong news background, supervisory experience, a strong reporting portfolio, and excellent news knowledge
• The Managing Editor must maintain excellent organization while also being able to adapt to changing needs and circumstances rapidly•
Experience
• The Managing Editor should be fluent in the news of the coverage area and the public media system
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications; or equivalent experience
