Sales Strategy Manager




This position is primarily responsible for the station’s Regional and Digital business, setting budgets, establishing strategy on growth and meeting goals. This positions secondary responsibility includes assisting the General Sales Manager on Local Sales growth; recruitment, interviewing and training.


  • Meet or exceed station’s regional and digital budgets
  • Maintain a current regional sales revenue forecast and create sales projects or campaigns to counteract market softness
  • Negotiate all regional business which includes assisting any of the AE’s that currently work on regional business
  • Oversee and maximize regional average unit rate, inventory management, pricing, and rate cards with General Sales Manager approval
  • Increase Market Share for all regional business
  • Maintain a current digital sales revenue forecast and create sales projects or campaigns to counteract market softness
  • Oversee Digital Invoice Recon and Digital Pacing each month
  • Oversee, implement and maintain all station promotional deals: Foodie Friday, Contests/Giveaways, Virtual Job Fairs
  • Program all shared digital materials, sales promotion and social media posts
  • Assist the General Sales Manager in recruitment, onboarding and training of new sales team members
  • Train New AE’s in company provided sales software and services; OSI, Nielsen, Ad Connections, Matrix and Ad Mall
  • Work with the General Sales Manager to create a multi-platform sales proficiency plan for regional, local and digital business
  • Oversee all third-party local sales training, including Doyle, Nielsen, and other vendors
  • Assist the General Sales Manager in building and maintain a sales environment that is based on “team,” is centered on mutual respect of co-workers, and has a winning culture
  • Work with other management personnel to coordinate marketing plans, production, new programming schedules, and promotions
  • Protect and promote station “brand image” within; work with the Local Team on presenting a consistent sales message in a professional, courteous, and partnership-building manner
  • Maintain a current understanding of trends in sales strategies, technology, training and product offerings within the market and industry, paying special attention to multi-platform sales opportunities
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current business events and trends in the DMA
  • Complete all tasks and reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Serve as a public representative of WKTV at community functions, business networking events and station-sponsored events
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Sales Manager and/or the Vice President & General Manager


  • Minimum 3+ years as a Sales Manager preferred
  • Innovative mindset and strong analytical skills
  • Strong judgment, organizational, communication, management and writing skills
  • Thorough understanding of selling content on multiple platforms
  • College degree in journalism, marketing, communications or related field preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; a team player


  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid New York driver’s license
