Education Engagement Specialist

Mountain Lake PBS, serving the beautiful Adirondack Region, the Lake Champlain Valley, and Southern Quebec, has an immediate opening for a full-time Education Engagement Specialist for a one-year term to join the dedicated team at an active public and educational media operation. This position will lead the creation of new educational media and resources and conduct outreach and trainings for local educators while working closely with the education team at Mountain Lake PBS.


The Education Engagement Specialist at Mountain Lake PBS will lead the creation of new educational materials relating to media produced at Mountain Lake PBS and conduct outreach and trainings for educators in schools in Mountain Lake PBS’ New York service region.
This position will work closely with the education team to develop educational media and supporting resources to be shared on the national PBS LearningMedia platform. This position is a term position, through August 2023.



  • Cultivate relationships with local educators, administrators, and students including PreK-12 schools, BOCES, and SUNY Plattsburgh’s education program.
  • Lead development and evaluation of professional learning opportunities for educators in area schools centered around Mountain Lake PBS content and PBS LearningMedia.
  • Stay abreast of classroom needs and trends, and PBS resources, in order to serve
    teachers with relevant and timely resources and opportunities.


  • Collaborate with the education and production teams to create educational materials such as lesson plans or teaching guides to accompany educational media resources for students and educators.
  • Evaluate Mountain Lake PBS productions and archival materials for their educational value, and coordinate creation of supporting resources.


  • Track expenses and hours for projects.
  • Support educational outreach activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree, and 3 years’ experience working in a PreK-12 and/or higher education setting.
  • Experience planning and delivering professional development for educators.
  • Experience facilitating online/virtual events.
  • Familiarity with New York State Standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities and goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency, with knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office 365; Google Suite apps including Google Classroom; educational platforms or software such as Schoology, Flipgrid, Adobe Spark, Seesaw, Nearpod, Kahoot, Edmodo, Scratch,
    ClassDojo, etc.
