We were on the road last week hosting an awards luncheon on Long Island and another in New York City. Once again, the Association’s President, David Donovan, and the Director of Communications, Nora Kipp, attended these luncheons. The Long Island event was held at Blackstone Steakhouse and the New York City event took place at Pier 61, Chelsea Piers. Both of the luncheons were provided to member stations free of charge.

As you know, our Excellence in Broadcasting Competition is a state-wide competition. Thus, even though we present the awards locally at the regional lunches, stations compete against other stations across the Empire State in various program categories for radio, television, and digital media. In addition, we have a separate competition for college radio, television, and digital entries. This year’s competition was fierce!
We also present stations with a Serving New York Award for outstanding public service campaigns. We honor the station and the public service group that has worked with the station on a public service campaign at the luncheons. This award celebrates the importance of giving back to the communities we are licensed to serve.
