In May, Nora graduated Summa Cum Laude from Siena College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She also minored in Educational Studies and Writing and Communication. During her time at Siena, she assumed a very active role on campus. From junior year onward, she worked as a Peer Career Advisor for the Career and Internship Center. In this role, Nora evaluated hundreds of students’ resumes and cover letters and provided them with actionable feedback for the revision process.
She studied abroad at University College Cork (UCC) in Cork, Ireland as a sophomore. While in Ireland, Nora took classes in Irish folklore, Irish literature, Irish culture, and Travel Writing. She also ventured across Ireland and visited places like Dublin, Kinsale, Cobh, Kerry, Galway, and Killarney. Nora is an avid world traveler, visiting over 10 countries before the age of 20. She enjoys writing about her enthusiasm for cultural immersion and exploration on her travel blog.
Throughout her junior year, she became very involved in the bi-weekly publication of The Promethean, Siena College’s student newspaper. Dating back to 1938, it remains the oldest student-run organization on campus and is widely read by students, faculty, and alumni. As a member, she worked her way up from Section Editor of Academic and Social News to Co-Editor-in-Chief in just one semester. Additionally, she spent a good portion of her college career as a Content Writer for Siena’s chapter of Her Campus, an online magazine aimed at the female student demographic.
In her spare time, Nora enjoys practicing photography, reading books, and developing her writing craft. Her first major publication happened as a freshman in college when her essay titled “New Reality and Near-Death Experiences” was printed in Gleanings: A Journal of First-Year Student Writing. Since then, she went on to gain more formal writing experience through various intern positions and English coursework at Siena. She has extensive experience with composing press releases, website content writing, creative fiction, creative nonfiction, persuasive pieces, analytical essays, and research papers. Nora is excited to use her past experience to grow in this new position at NYSBA!
