FCC Regulatory Fees Due September 24, 2021

As we noted last week, the FCC has reduced some of the regulatory fees that must be paid by broadcasters for 2021.  It has opened its fee filer web portal for 2021 regulatory fees.  The fee must be paid no later than 11:59 pm, Eastern Daylight Time on September 24, 2021. Stations failing to meet the deadline will receive a 25% penalty. The Media Bureau released a guide to computing the fees due for broadcast stations.

The FCC also released a Public Notice outlining the payment procedures that stations should use in paying the regulatory fee. Licensees may seek a waiver, deferral, or reduction of their regulatory fees based on financial hardship from the pandemic. Such waiver requests must be submitted by September 24, and include financial documentation demonstrating the hardship of a timely payment.
