NYSBA Remembers Board Member Chuck Carver

It is with very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Mr. Chuck Carver.  Chuck was the former owner of Choice 102 (WATS/WAVR AM&FM) in Waverly NY/Sayer PA.  He just retired having sold the stations late last year.  Chuck was a long time member of the New York State Broadcasters Association’s Board of Directors.  Over the years his stations earned numerous NYSBA Excellence in Broadcasting and Serving New York Awards.

Chuck Carver was everything a local broadcaster should be.  He set the gold standard for our profession.  Programs such as the “Scholarship Challenge” and “Christmas for Kids” were just two examples of his commitment to the community.  For decades the “Voice of the Valley” brought essential news and information to his listeners.  Beyond broadcasting, Chuck was deeply involved in the community, with his service on numerous boards and community organizations.

As we go through life, we are fortunate to meet those special people who make this world a better place to live.  Chuck was one of those special people.  He will be missed.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, June 18th at 3pm.  Visitation beginning at 2pm, at the Charles Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. (717-393-9661). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chuck’s memory to: Cherish Love Honor Memorial Campaign, Lancaster Catholic High School, 650 Juliette Avenue, Lancaster, PA  17601.  Also, there is a local memorial service being planned for August 14th in Sayre, PA.  Details are not yet finalized.
