An important part of a station’s EAS obligation is to have the FCC’s Emergency Alert System Operating Handbook ready at the station. FCC rules require that a copy of the EAS Handbook be maintained by stations and be immediately available to staff responsible for authenticating messages and initiating actions.
The FCC has recently issued its revised 2021 edition of the handbook. Stations should download this handbook and make sure it’s available at the station.
You can access the updated EAS Handbook on the FCC’s ETRS web page by clicking HERE.
