Because of COVID 19, local advertising markets have declined and in some cases collapsed. Unfortunately, NY State still spends a considerable amount of its advertising budget on social media companies and platforms that are located out of state.
NYSBA believes that New York State should spend its advertising dollars locally. Accordingly, we are pushing New York State to spend its advertising dollars on local radio and television stations. In short, when it comes to advertising – Buy NY!
We have been lobbying the federal government to spend more advertising dollars on local broadcast stations. If the Federal Government decides to increase funding for local media through state grants, we need to make sure local radio and television stations receive their fair share.
