Nineteen Members of NY Delegation Sign Letter asking Administration to buy Time on Local Stations

Last week a bipartisan “Dear Colleague” letter sponsored by Rep. Debbie Dingell (D MI), Rep. Marc Veasey (D TX), Rep. Fed Upton (R. MI) and Rep. Bill Flores (R TX) was sent to all members of the U.S. House of Representatives. About 240 members of the House of Representatives signed the letter. The letter asked the Administration to use local media for federal advertising campaigns and provide incentives for businesses receiving relief to advertise on local media.  Specifically the letter requests the Administration to:

  • Direct your Cabinet secretaries to review any resources intended to be used for advertising campaigns and have them expedite such activities with local media outlets;
  • Direct federal agency advertising dollars for existing and new federal programs where community outreach is needed for spending with local media, including those serving minority and rural communities; and
  • Incentivize a portion of stimulus funds provided to businesses for their recovery efforts for advertising on local media.

NYSBA contacted every member of the New York delegation. (A complicated task because all Congressional staff are working from home.)  We were able to obtain signatures from 19 members of the NY delegation.
