FCC Proposes Four Year Phase-in of Video Description Rules in TV DMA Markets 61-100

In compliance with it statutory obligation to provide video description, the FCC is proposing a four year phase on of this requirement. It proposes to phase in the video description requirements for an additional 10 DMAs each year for four years, beginning on January 1, 2021.  The Commission invites comment on this proposal.

In New York State, the rules currently apply to station in the New York City, Buffalo and Albany markets. Under the proposal, the new video description rules will be phased-in an apply to stations in Rochester (DMA 76), Syracuse (DMA 87)  and Burlington/Plattsburgh (DMA 96).  Stations in other markets: Binghamton (DMA 161); Utica (DMA 172); Elmira/Corning (DMA178) and Watertown (DMA 181) are not subject to this immediate phase in.
