The mission of the Broadcasters Foundation of America is to improve the quality of life and maintain the personal dignity of men and women in the radio and television broadcast profession who find themselves in acute financial need due to a critical illness, accident, advanced age or other serious misfortune. It is the only charity that uniquely supports broadcasters in their time of need. The Broadcasters Foundation of America provides monthly grants to broadcasters who are unable to work due to an illness, accident, advanced age or other serious misfortune. Medical bills or long-term care expenses can leave a family in desperate need of help. The Foundation provides grants to help fill in the gap between income and expenses.
When natural disasters hit a community, broadcasters are some of the first on the scene, reporting live. But these events can also affect the lives of broadcasters, leaving some in dire financial need. In these situations, the Broadcasters Foundation of America provides one-time grants to broadcasters who need financial help recovering from disaster.
Of course the Broadcasters Foundation helps broadcasters across the country. It’s worth noting, however, that over the years it has given hundreds of thousands of dollars helping less fortunate broadcasters in New York State. There are two ways you can help.
Guardian Fund – This fund is designed to accept personal contributions. The Guardian Fund’s exclusive purpose is to ensure that financial assistance is available in perpetuity to fellow broadcasters who, through no fault of their own, are in acute personal financial need. The Fund is used exclusively to support the benevolent outreach of the Broadcasters Foundation of America.

Angel Initiative – The Corporate Angel Initiative enhances the Foundation’s ability to reach out to broadcasters in need without drawing from our Guardian Fund. It is important to remember that once we begin a monthly grant, particularly involving the elderly, we stay with that broadcaster throughout his or her lifetime.
