The FCC recently modified its Kid Vid rules for TV. The new rules went into effect on September 16th. However the new Kid Vid forms are awaiting approval from the Office of Management and Budget.
To help educate small TV stations, the FCC has issued a guide to help stations comply with the new rules. Remember, the FCC did not eliminate the children’s programming rules. Rather it modified the rules to provide for greater flexibility. The core obligation remains. Core Programming is educational and informational programming that is serving the educational and informational needs of children ages 16 and under as a significant purpose and meets certain other requirements specified in the rules.
