NEW YORK STATE PRIMARY – LOWEST UNIT RATE PERIOD BEGINS MAY 11TH

Election season is upon us.  The New York State Primaries will be held on June 25, 2019.   Accordingly the Lowest Unit Rate Period begins on May 11th.

Note this is a primary for New York State and local offices.  It is not a federal primary.  Unlike federal candidates, there is no guaranteed right of access for candidates running for state and local offices.  (While not required, the FCC looks favorably on stations that allow candidates for state office to access the station.)  Nonetheless, if you decide to sell time to a candidate for state and local offices, you must meet the lowest unit rate provisions of the Communications Act.  In addition, if you sell time to one candidate, you must offer other candidates for that office equal opportunities to access your station.
