Marijuana Still on the New York Legislative Table

While many do not believe a bill legalizing recreational marijuana will pass in New York this year, adult use of marijuana continues to be discussed in the highest levels of the Legislature. Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes introduced legislation she described as mirroring the approach included by Governor Cuomo in his Executive Budget. In the Senate, Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins last week voiced support of wiping clean the records of people who have been convicted of marijuana-related crimes if the drug is legalized.
