Members of the NYSBA Board of Directors and the Futures Committee will be in Washington DC next Tuesday (Feb 26th) and Wednesday (Feb 27th) meeting with members of the New York Congressional Delegation. This is an exhausting two days, as we try to meet with all 27 NY members of the House of Representatives, as well as Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
We will be discussing several important issues:
- Supporting the current FCC retransmission consent process for television
- Supporting the Local Radio Freedom Act and opposing the imposition of a performance fee on off-air radio broadcasts
- Support for the PIRATE Act H.R. 583, which increases fines on illegal pirate radio operations. The bill is sponsored by Congressman Paul Tonko (D NY 20th)
