FCC Deregulation – Posting Rules No Longer in Effect after February 8th

Last year the FCC voted to eliminate the rules requiring stations to post licenses and other related information at the station. The FCC concluded “[W]we find that the provisions in Parts 1, 5, 73 and 74 of our rules requiring the physical posting and maintenance of broadcast licenses and related information at specific locations are redundant, obsolete, and unduly burdensome.”   The rule has cleared all necessary administrative steps.  As of last Friday February 8th, the posting rules are no longer in effect.  Note this goes beyond just posting the actual license.  Other materials, such as posting the name of the station’s Chief Operator, are no longer necessary.  To see the FCC decision click HERE.
