On-Line Public File Uploads Due February 11th

UPDATE: FCC REVISED DEADLINES

Late yesterday the FCC further extended the time for uploading information into your public file.  Stations now have until February 11 to upload materials such as the quarterly issues programs lists and children’s TV reports that were due during the shutdown.  (As we reported yesterday, the FCC had originally required these filings to be uploaded by Jan 30th.  The FCC has now changed its mind.)

During the shut-down a number of stations mistakenly uploaded materials on to the FCC’s “Demo on-line” web page.  These uploads did not go into your station’s public file.  The FCC is now asking stations to resubmit these filings into your proper on-line public file.  So if you uploaded materials during the shutdown, you must resubmit them by February 11.

EEO Filings:  The FCC has also amended the deadlines for EEO Reports:

  • Annual EEO Report is due February 1st.
  • Mid Term EEO Report (Form 397) is now due February 8th.

Other FCC Filings: Check with your communications attorney regarding any “station specific” filings or applications that were due during the shut-down.  As a general matter the FCC’s new Public Notice states:

  • Filings that were due between January 3 and January 7, inclusive, will be due on January 30, 2019.
  • Filings that would otherwise be required to be filed between January 8 and February 7 will be due for filing on February 8, 2019.

We apologize for any confusion.  Frankly we did not expect the FCC to reverse itself regarding filing deadlines within a couple of days.
